About Us
Brand Story
Awakening the wonder of learning.
Curious Kudu started with a gap on a shelf. There are wonderful sensory and developmental toys out there — beautifully designed, beautifully made, and worthy of admiration — but very few of them feel distinctly South African. Not in the themes. Not in the illustration. Not in the hands that made them. We went looking for that toy first as gift-buyers, then as mothers, and never quite found it. So we made it.
We are a proudly South African brand. Locally inspired, locally illustrated, locally made. Our products carry the landscapes, wildlife and warmth of this country - because we believe South African children deserve to grow up seeing their world reflected back at them.
Alet Botha — Founder & Director

Alet comes from a background in marketing, which means she understands both the power of a brand and the responsibility that comes with it. But Curious Kudu didn’t begin in a boardroom ... it began with something she kept looking for and couldn’t find.
She looked for it first as a guest choosing baby shower gifts, then as a mother shopping for her own children. Eventually, she stopped looking for it and started asking how it could be made.
Alet drives the brand vision, the product curation and the belief that what a child plays with genuinely matters.
Sam Olivier — Co-Founder & Creative Production Lead

Sam has spent over 16 years in the South African baby and manufacturing space as the founder of Tiger Lily Tots ... a beloved Cape Town-based brand known for its handcrafted, locally made baby products. She brings to Curious Kudu something no brief can manufacture: deep, hard-won expertise in what it takes to bring a beautiful, ethical, locally made product to life.
Sam oversees production and brings an unwavering standard of craft to everything that carries the Curious Kudu name.
The Team
